A goal a minute before half-time gave Gillingham a 1-0 lead at the break against Oxford United.
United had been down to ten men for some five minutes due to a head injury to Deane Smalley, and Gillingham made the most of this as Lewis Montrose slammed home a spectacular 25-yard strike into the top left-hand corner.
