Oxford is preparing for its biggest martial arts event, with hundreds expected to fill The Regal, Cowley Road, for an international Muay Thai fight night.
Two European titles will be up for grabs, with two England v Thailand fights also scheduled at the £25-a-head Oxford Martial Arts Academy event tonight.
Oxford’s Oleg Jablonis will take on Alex Meramo, of the Diesel Gym in London, and fellow OMAA fighter Rafal Gorka will face Myles Mitchinson, of Northampton Muay Thai. Both will be competing for southern area titles.
Muay Thai is referred to as ‘the art of eight limbs’ because fighters can use punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes, using eight points of contact.
Doors open at 4.30pm, with the fight card starting at 5.30pm.
