Oxford kart racer Nathan Harrison was foiled in his bid to be crowned British champion in the Super 1 Series.
The 15-year-old, from Cumnor Hill, Botley, finished runner-up in the series following third and first place finishes in the last two races at Three Sisters, near Wigan.
He missed out on the title by four points to Jack Barlow, who had a six-point cushion going into the final weekend.
Barlow clinched the crown by finishing runner-up to Sam Marsh in the first final, and didn’t race again.
Following a mid-grid first-corner pile up in the second final, Harrison shook off his pursuers and ended the season with a victory.
Final standings (provisional): 1 J Barlow 584, 2 N Harrison 580, 3 L Coombs 499, 4 J Singleton 480, 5 R Holland 466.
