Oxford kart racer Nathan Harrison has his sights on the British Championship crown going into the season finale of the Super 1 Series at Three Sisters, near Wigan, this weekend.

The 15-year-old, from Cumnor Hill, Botley, stands in second place in the race for the Rotax Junior Max title, six points behind Jack Barlow.

Harrison has been a front-runner all season, with four victories and four runner-up finishes from the opening ten rounds, but lost the leadership in the last round at the PF International at Brandon, near Grantham.

The Matthew Arnold School pupil posted two third places then, with Barlow bagging a brace of wins.

Looking ahead to the two-day fixture, which gets under way today, Harrison said: “I just want to go there in a relaxed frame of mind.

“I’m happier entering the last meeting in the position I’m in; it means the pressure is all on the other guy rather than me, since he has the most to lose.

“I’m feeling pretty confident because I love the Three Sisters track – it’s really fast and flowing and I rate it as one of the best in Britain, and we went well there last year – so the fight goes on.”
