BURFORD pair Kate Stagg and Anne Woodsend triumphed in the Midlands South regional betterball competition at Burnham Beeches.

They returned a gross score of 73, one-over-par, on the Buckinghamshire course.

Stagg and Woodsend also carded the lowest nett score with 67, but the handicap trophies went to Lina McKenna (Harewood Downs) and Karen Burrows (Ellesborough), who shot 68.

The Burford duo headed an Oxfordshire one-two as Frilford Heath’s Annie Gowing and Kate Evans finished second on countback, having carded a 75.

  • CARSWELL’S Carole Avenell won the Oxfordshire Ladies’ Bamberger Trophy after a two-hole victory over Jenny Keeble (Studley Wood) in the final on Frilford Heath’s Green Course.
  • SOPHIE Stone (Magnolia Park) and Imogen Vessey (Chipping Norton) represented BB&O girls in a triangular match against the combined county’s boys’ under 16 and 14 teams.

Stone gained 1½ points in her two singles matches as the girls beat the boys’ under 16s 5-1, but lost 4½-1½ to the under 14s.
