Abingdon Town paid the penalty for missing a host of chances in their 1-1 draw drawn in their Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division game against Thame United on Saturday.

Danny Thomas hit the post as early as the fifth minute, as Abingdon got on top.

All they had to show for their efforts was a 35th-minute penalty, awarded against Phil Pykett for handball, which was converted by Anaclet Odhiambo.

Thame came flying out of the traps second half and grabbed an equaliser in the 47th minute with a 30-yard strike from Matt Hall Back came Abingdon as chances went abegging, but they could not grab the winner.

A strike from Darren Beckett ten minutes from time gave Ardley United a 4-3 victory in a thrilling Premier Division clash away to Kidlington. Beckett had given Ardley the lead with a fifth-minute penalty.

But Kidlington had fought back to level 3-3 thanks to strikes from Lewis Coyle and Ryan Curtin (2) before Ardley’s late winner.

The winners’ other goals came from Nick Thorne and Troy Bryan.

Oxford City Nomads came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Highworth Town, who had taken a first-half lead through TJ Bohane’s penalty and a strike from Dan Hilder.

Conor McDonagh pulled back a goal for Nomads in the 70th minute, before Pablo Heysham rescued a point with the last kick of the game.

Shrivenham were overrun 6-0 by visitors Binfield, conceding goals to Danny Wing, Carl and Ian Davies, Callum Whitty and James Suarez (2).

Witney Town were unable to contain Reading Town, conceding four without reply.

On target for the visitors were former Didcot strikers Philip John – with a hat-trick – and Ray Spence.
