Jake Wright will come straight back into the Oxford United side as they bid for three straight away wins at Hereford today.

The U's skipper missed last week’s 1-1 draw with Accrington after serving a one-match suspension for his sending-off at Barnet.

And boss Chris Wilder says that Wright’s return for the npower League Two clash will be a big lift for his side.

“With Jake coming back in that renews the partnership in central defence (with Michael Duberry) and with the full backs and goalkeeper,” he said. “That’s a big positive for us because they have done well.”

Wilder says United’s away form – they have won at Dagenham and Barnet on their last two trips – means the team head to Edgar Street in buoyant mood.

“If you’re going to have a good campaign you have to pick up plenty of points on your travels and I am delighted with our away form,” he said.

“Even in defeat at Crewe we played some very good football.

“And it’s only really been the first game away at Rotherham where maybe we didn’t quite do what we know we can.

“We have played freely away from home, have caused teams a lot of problems and hopefully Hereford will be the same.”

The Bulls go into the game having won just once this season and having scored just four goals.

Their last home game saw them crash 6-1 to Gillingham, but U’s midfielder Peter Leven believes that will count for nothing.

“On their day, any team can beat anyone in this league,” he said. “We will go to Hereford, but totally professional in our preparation as we always are.”

Simon Clist, who is on loan at Hereford from Oxford, is ineligible.

But striker Sam Winnall, who has scored two goals in six games can play after his loan from Wolves was extended for another month.

And Hereford further strengthened their strikeforce yesterday by signing former Brentford and Shrewsbury Town forward Nathan Elder on a month’s loan from Hayes & Yeading.
