Big frontman Jimmy Deabill was last night set to leave Oxford City to sign for North Leigh.

Deabill, who joined City from Kidlington in the summer, hasn’t been able to force his way into the starting line-up at the Court Place Farm club.

City manager Mike Ford said: “They are offering him regular first-team football and a package we could not get near, and they are both contributing factors.”

Lee Steele and Darren Pond, who were unavailable for the 2-0 win at Barwell on Saturday, return to City’s squad for the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division clash at home to Frome Town tonight.

Defender Andy Ballard faces a late fitness test on a dead leg.

Deabill is set to go straight into North Leigh’s squad for the Division 1 South & West derby at Didcot Town.

North Leigh manager Mark Gee disputed Ford’s claims that money had played a big part in Deabill’s decision to move.

“I have offered him exactly the same with a £10 goal bonus, so the financial package is nothing to do with it,” he said.

“He has more opportunities to play for us than with Oxford City.”

Midfielder Kieran Sanders is doubtful with an ankle injury, but Michael Hopkins returns to the squad.

Didcot include new signing Richard Peirson, who was a member of the Oxford City side who sent the Railwaymen down at the end of last season.

Shaun Wimble returns to Abingdon United’s squad following a two-match ban for the home game against Halesowen.

Aaron Parfitt, who rejoined Abingdon last week from Hampton & Richmond, is also included, while Steve Davis and Sam Collier face fitness checks after picking up knee injuries in the 3-2 defeat at Mangotsfield.

Banbury United are at home to Chesham United in the Premier Division.
