HARRY Collins won Frilford Heath’s Junior Gold Medal in thrilling style on his home course.

A great par out of the bunker on the last hole saw him pip Harry Wetton (Woburn) to the title by one shot on 147.

More than 50 of the south of England’s best juniors competed over 36 holes at Frilford, sponsored for the 15th year by Buildbase of Oxford.

Around 30 clubs were represented from as far a field as Taunton and Glamorgan.

Round one on the Blue Course saw James Smith card a nett 70 and Michael Younie (both Frilford) a gross 75.

Liam Carroll (Carswell) aced the third hole.

Collins and Wetton were joint leaders going into the afternoon on the Red Course.

Michael Shortis, from Frilford, scored a nett 66, and Kyle Potter, from Sand Martins, a 72 level par gross score.

Then came Collins’ last-hole heroics.
