ONE more win should give Banbury 2nd the title after they crushed Wolverton Town by seven wickets.

Town had no answer to Josh Megson (5-26) or Ross Freeman (4-41) as they fell away to 132 all out. Only Andy Gosling (33) looked like getting going.

Banbury were never in any trouble after tea as Ed Phillips hit 50 and Andrew Sabin 39 in the visitors’ 136-3.

The runners-up spot is wide open after third-placed Tiddington had the better of a draw with Great Brickhill.

Tiddington made 253-7 dec in 51 overs after Matthew Maule (94), Nathan Brooks (54no), Jon Talbot (42) and Nick Pykett (32) helped them recover from 60-5. Maule and Brooks added 108 for the seventh wicket in only 13 overs.

Graeme Carter (63) and Colin Dobson (58) put Brickhill in contention, but a flurry of wickets left them on 212-8.

Tiddington 19, Great Brickhill 7

Abingdon Vale are still in the mix after they squeezed past Banbury Twenty by five wickets.

Graham Charlesworth took 5-38 from 16 overs in Twenty’s 124, Jak Soppit making 40 not out and John Wright 37.

Keith Arnold then threatened a reprise of his performance at Abingdon in June – when he took 8-26 – but Vale reached 125-5 despite the veteran seamer’s 5-57.

Aston Rowant 2nd stay deep in trouble after a rain-affected draw with Challow & Childrey.

After a 90-minute delay, Challow reached 220-5 dec after 37 overs thanks to Vishane Perera (81), Nigel Hume (37) and Ian Demain (35no).

Andrew Tolson (51) and Adam Cossins (47) then gave Rowant a glimmer of hope, but they fell short on 188-8 as the in-form David Slade took 4-54.

A Rowant 2nd 5, Challow 19

Sandford St Martin won at home to Long Marston despite only posting 123 after being asked to bat first.

Siphe Mzayidume hit 30 for Sandford, while Simon McLeman took 6-28 from 13.3 overs.

Simon Smith then produced an outstanding spell to take 5-30 from 17.4 overs and help dismiss Marston for only 114.
