EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE

Bashley 0, Banbury Utd 3 (Dolman 14, Woodley 38, Green 53)

BANBURY United endured a five-hour coach journey and a 45-minute delay to kick off, before cruising to victory at Bashley in the Premier Division on Saturday.

Following a disastrous journey due to traffic problems, Banbury showed no reaction as they commanded the game.

They went in front after Joe Coleman’s corner was headed home by Liam Dolman.

Banbury were on top, and it seemed only a matter of time before they would score again.

Will Green and Aaron Woodley, on loan from Oxford United, looked particularly lively.

Banbury increased their lead when Glenn Walker came forward and saw his powerful shot parried by Bashley’s giant keeper David Elm.

The loose ball fell to Woodley, who rushed in to slot the ball home from a narrow angle.

Three minutes after the break, Banbury should have increased their lead.

Walker controlled the ball on the right, before his cross found Sam Youngs.

Youngs evaded the home defence, only to see his point-blank header fly over the bar.

But Banbury did not have to wait long for goal No 3, and it was the strike of the game.

Green outpaced three Bashley defenders, before calmly slotting the ball past Elm to make the game safe.

Youngs went close with a 25-yard effort, which flew a foot wide of the far post.
