EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE
Stourport Swifts 2 (Griffin 6, Lloyd 60), North Leigh 2 (McCabe 70, Hole pen 89)
STUART Hole’s last-minute penalty earned North Leigh a deserved point in their Division 1 South & West match at Stourport on Saturday.
The game was dominated by North Leigh, with the home keeper making four outstanding saves.
But The Millers had to come from 2-0 down to salvage a point.
The home side were in front early as John Griffin netted from close range.
North Leigh were on top for the rest of the half, but found Stourport keeper Haydn Whitcombe in fine form.
Whitcombe saved from Michael Hopkins, and also kept out efforts from Andy McCabe and John Mills.
On the hour, North Leigh were caught on the break as Aaron Lloyd doubled the home side’s lead.
McCabe reduced the arrears ten minutes later, before North Leigh levelled in the dying moments as Hole converted a spot kick after Mills was fouled by Whitcombe in the box.
North Leigh: Warrell, Bowles, Organ, Hole, Franklin, Clark, Sanders, Burnell (Willoughby 61), Mills, McCabe, Hopkins (Roberts 61). Subs not used: Merriman, Sadler.
Attendance: 92.
