EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE

Abingdon Utd 1 (Griffin 12), Paulton Rovers 1 (D Cleverley 52)

ABINGDON United had two players sent off in the second half, but secured a battling draw against Paulton in Division 1 South & West.

Shaun Wimble saw red for foul language to an assistant, while Ben McReady received his marching orders for kicking a ball at an opponent.

There was no sign of what was to follow in a relatively quiet first half.

Abingdon went in front when Wimble hooked the ball over his head to Scott Griffin, who headed home.

Paulton levelled after the break with a carbon copy of Abingdon’s goal, Dan Cleverley nodding home.

The home side went close through Curtis Angell, who was denied by Paulton keeper Kyle Phillips, before Wimble was sent off for protesting to an assistant.

As tempers frayed, Mc-Cready saw red late on, leaving Abingdon to see out the game with nine men, but they clung on for a point.

Abingdon Utd: J Foster, McReady, Davis, Allaway (Smith 75), Carnell, Kingsbeer, Austin (Mattingley 60), Biddle, Griffin (Evans 64), Wimble, Angell. Subs not used: Williams, A Foster.
