SERIOUS CRICKET HOME COUNTIES PREMIER LEAGUE

NICK Ferraby’s unbeaten century propelled Oxford to a six-wicket home victory over Henley in Division 1 on Saturday.

Ferraby, who also took 3-81 in Henley’s 231-9, hit 125 off 122 balls as Oxford reached 235-4 with an over to spare.

His third league ton of the campaign featured 13 fours and four sixes, while his 149-run fourth-wicket partnership with Jamie Perkin (64) proved key to victory as Oxford recovered from being 6-2.

Henley won the toss and elected to bat, with Tom Geeson Brown taking their first two wickets.

Jono McLean top-scored with 62, while Carl Crowe (55) also passed 50.

Spinner Shamilal Mendis was the pick of the Oxford attack with 3-51, while Henley’s innings ended two overs early due to rain.

This also meant Oxford had only 47 overs for their chase, which began badly as openers Chris Sandbach and Jason Harrison fell cheaply to Tom Lambert.

Stewart Laudat started the recovery, then Ferraby and Perkin added 149 in 28 overs, before Ian Crosby joined the century-maker to wrap it up.
