Oxford United completed their pre-season build-up with a 1-1 draw at Thame United’s ATM Stadium to make it nine games unbeaten.
But they left it late after the Hellenic League side had taken the lead early in the second half, Tom Craddock bagging a late equaliser.
New goalkeeper Wayne Brown made his second start for the U’s, while Simon Heslop and Peter Leven were given a run-out in midfield.
Craddock brought a fine save from Thame keeper Milan Baresic, while Aaron Rogers forced Brown into a full-length save at the other end.
Five minutes after the break, Craddock saw his effort rebound off a post and United were made to pay when Nik Rhodes headed the home side ahead from a free-kick.
Constant United pressure was rewarded in the dying seconds when Sam Long’s cross was smashed home by Craddock.
Oxford United: Brown, Purkiss, Hinchliffe, James (Long), Kinniburgh, Heslop, Leven, Clist, Woodley, Craddock, Marsh.
Attendance: 650.
