BANBURY 2nd soared to the top after dominating their drawn match with promotion rivals Abingdon Vale.

Vale’s decision to field first backfired when Banbury racked up 288-4 thanks to Jamie Coles (93), Luke Radford (82) and Steve Beck (60), while the visitors’ slow over rate cost them two points.

Ashley Bowles hit 86 and Ashley Blanchard took 3-60, but Abingdon closedon 214-6.

Morning leaders Tiddington crashed to a shock home defeat to Wolverton Town.

Put into bat, Town’s 226-7 saw Sean Potter hit 62, Michael Baker 53, Asim Hussain 45 and Aky Hussain 43.

Only Darren Risden (34) and Peter King (31no) got going in Tiddington’s 213 all out, Wasim Fayyaz taking 3-28.

Openers Vishane Perera (58) and Nigel Hume (51) put on 108 to set Challow & Childrey on their way to victory against Sandford St Martin.

Martin Anson (4-82) and Alex Kill (3-45) hit back, but Ian Demain’s 51 helped Challow declare after 51 overs on 233-8.

Olly Dimbylow (4-38) reduced Sandford to 39-5. Anson (48) and Siphe Mzayidume (37) put up some late resistance, and eventually the visitors were all out for 190.

Aston Rowant 2nd boosted their survival hopes with a draw at Long Marston.

Andrew Tolson hit 86 and Ryan Chapman 42 in Rowant’s 242, James Beesley taking 4-31 and Pete Toovey 4-80.

Chapman (5-43) restricted Marston to 159-8, of which Mark Green scored 40.

L Marston 7, Aston Rowant 2nd 19

Great Brickhill climbed back up to second despite struggling to beat bottom club Banbury Twenty.

Twenty made 194-8 after being asked to bat, Phil Manger hitting 83 not out.

Anton DeBeer then made 57 , but they struggled against Keith Arnold (3-40) and it was left to Graeme Carter (75no) to steer his side to 196-7.
