Thame Town’s early collapse cost them dearly in their six-wicket defeat away to high-riding Home Counties Premier League Division 2 West side Slough.

Electing to bat first, Thame were reduced to 38-4 before a partnership of 68 between Sam Lachlan and Jaydeep Bhatti steered them to 106-5 with 17 overs to go But a superb spell of 8 for 61 off 30 overs from Zulfi Butt restricted them to 174 all out from their 60 overs.

In reply, Sufian Munir rode his early luck and played big shots and got Slough off to a flyer.

Thame were in with a shout with Slough on 110- 4 on a turning pitch, but there was no support for Bhatti, and Slough crossed the line easily
