Deane Smalley bagged a brace as Oxford United finished their pre-season tour of America with a 3-1 victory over Seacoast United.

The former Chesterfield striker scored twice in the second half to give the U’s victory after Joey Barima had cancelled out Jon-Paul Pittman’s early strike.

Pittman fired United ahead in the 18th minute when he latched on to Asa Hall’s pass to fire home.

Hall almost doubled the lead, but scuffed his shot, before Barima equalised, beating keeper Ryan Clarke with a fierce low shot which came against the run of play.

However, just five minutes after the restart, Oxford regained the lead.

Smalley’s quick footwork worked an opening, and the forward lashed the ball into the roof of the net.

Four minutes later, the same player made it 3-1.

A cross from Damian Batt found Smalley free on the edge of the box, and he fired home.
