Around 40 races feature in a combined Dirt Track, Quad and Pit Bike meeting at Oxford Stadium tonight (7pm).
It’s the second event organised by All-Terrain Events at the stadium this year, utilising the former speedway track. Both the dirt track and quad events form part of the 2011 British Championships.
In the previous Good Friday meeting at Oxford, the Quad event was won by Ben Richmond, after a thrilling final in which he banged wheels with Andy Heitman. Both will again be among the leading contenders, along with Carl Bunce, overall winner of the 2010 championship.
There is local interest in the dirt track solo class, with Chinnor’s Jason Newitt, a former Oxford Cheetah, currently third in the standings, behind Dan Berwick and Ben Millichap.
The pit bike challenge event features some of the nation’s finest such as Mark Richardson and Luke Coker.
Ex-Oxford Cheetahs Jamie Courtney and Gary Phelps will be having a go at pit bike racing.
Turnstiles open at 6pm, with practice starting at 6.30pm (first race 7pm).
Prices are: adults £10, concessions £7, children (aged 12-16) £3, while accompanied children under 12 are free.
