Banbury's father and son duo, Andrew and Lloyd Sabin made it a family affair as they put on a century stand in their Division 1 match at Tring Park on Saturday.

But Banbury’s attempt to pull off an unlikely victory were scuppered by the rain.

When the game was abandoned as a draw, Tring were struggling at 40-4 in pursuit of their victory target of 202.

The day belong to the Sabins, who made light of the damp conditions after Tring had invited them to bat first.

The pair added 129 for the first wicket, with teenager Lloyd the dominant partner.

The youngster scored 77 off 119 balls with ten fours, before he was first out.

Ed Phillips did not last long, while AndrewSabin eventually departed at 152, having made 56 off 115 balls with five fours.

With their overs reduced to 51 by a rain interruption, Banbury eventually reached 201-3 following a final flourish from Ian Tew and Richard West.

Veteran seamer Simon Stanway was the only Tring bowler to command respect, conceding just 35 runs from his 16 overs.

Lance Shaw, the Auckland seamer making his debut for Banbury, struck an early blow dismissing Tring opener Peter Handscomb, caught by Lloyd Sabin.

Phillips then dismissed Leigh Tomlinson and Robin Pritchard in quick succession to make it 19-3.

When Shaw then had Michael Payne caught by Phil-lips, Banbury were sensing victory.

But almost immediately a storm arrived and forced the match to be abandoned.
