Aston Rowant’s Division 2 West match with Farnham Royal was interestingly poised following an enterprising innings from Thad Cooper, when rain returned to have the final say.

Put in to bat, Farnham lost both openers to Wes Morrick before Duncan Bradshaw led a recovery.

The former Oxford Blue made 88, and with good assistance from George Thur-stance plus some dropped catches, helped the visitors to recover to 231-5 from their reduced number of 46.4 overs.

Morrick, took all the wickets to fall, finishing with 5-90.

With rain further reducing their overs allowance, Row-ant’s response was a positive one.

Tim Morgan and Chris Watling kept the scoreboard ticking over before Cooper batted superbly for 68 not out.

Rowant had reached a promising 163-4 from 34 overs before the rain returned and caused the match to be abandoned as draw.
