Eleven-year-old Steven Stanhope (The Wychwood) was in scintillating form in the second BB&O Golf Partnership competition of the season at Waterstock.

The 14-handicapper, who attends the partnership’s junior academy at Studley Wood, recorded a one-over-par gross score for an amazing 49 stableford points and victory in the boys’ under 13 section.

Stanhope’s win earns him a place in the Champion of Champions final at Studley Wood on October 26, along with the other prizewinners at Waterstock.

Charlie Green (Tadmarton Heath) won the boys’ 13-and-over category with 42, from Hadden Hill’s Joshua Marks, who carded 40.

Sally Ayres (Frilford Heath) won the girls’ under 13 section with 41 points.

Victoria Hart (Hadden Hill) was second on 26.

BURFORD went top of the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League Division 1 with a 2½-½ win at home to leaders Frilford Heath.

Their wins came from John Wilks and Matthew Chiddington, who beat Frilford’s Ashley Walton and Ben Paterson 3&2, with Adam Salter and John Lally defeating John Rusk and Harry Collins 3&1.

KIRTLINGTON duo Brett Moggridge and Derek Thomas have reached the final of the Greene King ‘Old Speckled Hen’ competition at Le Touquet next month.

They qualified at Wyboston Lakes and then came through the semi final at Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk.

THE Oxford Children’s Hospital Charity Golf Day takes place at Bicester on Friday, June 17.
