Hatti Dean is raring to go after being called into the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team for the European Team Championships in Stockholm, Sweden, from June 19-20.

The former Radley steeplechaser has made a fantastic start to the outdoor season, and has already achieved the qualifying standard for the world championships in South Korea in August.

She recorded 9mins 37.95secs – seven seconds off her personal best – in the Diamond League meeting in Rome last month, and is delighted with her early-season form.

She said: “Everything’s been going really well. To get the qualifying time in Rome, so early in the season, was brilliant.

“I’m looking to do both Diamond League meetings in the UK, and to get called into the GB team for next week is great news.”

The 29-year-old added: “It’s just such a nice event to be involved in.

“The pressure is different to a major championships, because it’s a team event.

“You don’t want to let people down, and it’s all about getting as many points as you can for the team.

“I feel good at the moment, so hopefully it will be a fairly decent pace and a good race.

“We’re flying out next Thursday, and so it’s all just training between now and then.

“I don’t have any injury issues, apart from the normal niggles you get in steeplechase, but that’s part and parcel of the event.”

Dean is Great Britain’s sole representative in the steeplechase and will run on Saturday, June 19.
