Kevin Giles clanged off 17 dolls to help the George come from behind to clip the Three Pigeons’ wings 2-1 in the Premier Section, writes ANDY BEAL.

Giles (6-5-6) was denied a magical maximum after missing with the first stick of his second throw.

The George lost the opening leg 34-31, but took the next two 33-27, 31-28.

Neil Lyon (6-5-5) was top dog for Three Pigeons with 16 dolls.

Philip Adams (6-4-6) also notched a brace of sixes in the Cricketers’ 3-0 win over Six Bells C.

Cricketers set and won the first leg 33-26, but had to rely on three sticks in the next after it was tied 31-31, before taking the last 30-25.

Adams’s teammate, Kevin Baker (4-5-5), chipped in with 14 dolls, while Andy Beal (5-5-3) and Dick Walsh (5-5-3) both hit 13 for Six Bells.

Fred Cook (5-6-4) was in terrific form for the Rowing Machine with 15 dolls, but they still lost 3-0 at Garsington Sports Club.

The leg scores were 24-22, 26-23, 24-22.

Austin Atkinson hit a six in New Club’s 2-1 home win over White Hart.

Mick Berry’s six for the visitors was in vain as they went down 24-21, 28-27, 27-29.

Jim Clemson (3-6-4) and Tony Barrett (4-5-4) both hit a bakers dozen for Six Bells Quarry in their 3-0 win at Punch Bowl in Section 2.

They won the first two legs 20-15, 20-17 and then took the last 25-14.

Chris Jenkins (3-6-5) clanged off 14 dolls for Gladiators A in their 3-0 victory at home to Queens Head.

Gladiators raced in 25-14, 24-20, 21-11.

In Section 3, Three Horseshoes’ Phil Jackson (5-6-3) clanged off 14 dolls to lead Three Horseshoes to a 3-0 win at Chequers C.

Jeff Glenister (6-4-5) was in electrifying form with 15 dolls to help the Griffin to a 3-0 win at the Cricketers Littleworth in Section 4.

The Griffin won the first two legs 22-13, 19-16, but had to rely on a three-stick shoot-out in the final leg after it was tied 16-16.

In Section 5, Nelson B set a team-record leg score with a superb 29 dolls in the decider to win 2-1 at home to Folly Bridge.

The two sides were locked together at 1-1 before Nelson blew away their opponents, who replied with 12, in the last.

Catherine Wheel A beat Vikings Sports C 3-0 in Section 6.

They won the first two legs 20-12, 20-16, and then set 16 in the last.

Vikings anchor man Ian Gardiner was left six to win the leg, and clanged off five to tie it, and the Catherine Wheel went on to take it on three sticks.

Original Swan B remain the only team yet to lose a leg in Section 10 as they won 3-0 at Red Lion B Kidlington. Patrick Williams starred with a dozen dolls for the victors.
