Oxford University student Jamie Gibson and former Chinnor flanker Tom Johnson have been named in the England Saxons 24-man squad for the Churchill Cup.
London Irish back-row forward Gibson, 20, gets his chance with England’s second team after injuries to Calum Clark (Northampton) and Andy Saull (Saracens).
Gibson came off the bench during England’s 38-31 defeat to the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday, while Exeter Chiefs man Tom Johnson, 28, started and scored a try.
This capped a fine first campaign in the Aviva Premiership for the former Oxford Brookes University student, who won the Gatorade Performance of the Season for his man-of-the-match display against Sales Sharks in November.
Churchill Cup holders England Saxons open up against the USA at Northampton on Saturday (5pm).
