Luke Ryan claimed a superb six-wicket haul, but finished on the losing side as Banbury were beaten by ten runs at Harpenden in Division 1.
Winning the toss and batting first, Harpenden posted 259 all out, despite seven of their batsmen failing to get into double figures as they failed to come to terms with Ryan.
Opener Ricky Damiano hit 66, while Ben Frazer (80) also shone for Harpenden.
Oxfordshire left-arm spinner Ryan claimed 6-52 in a tidy spell.
In reply, Lloyd Sabin and Nathan Hawkes shared 47 for the first wicket, Hawkes top-scoring with 67.
Shahbaz Ali also chipped in with a half century, but Banbury fall ten runs short at 249 all out.
