Former England boss Steve McClaren has ruled himself out of the running to fill the manager’s role at West Ham.
McClaren, a former Oxford United player, youth and reserve team coach, was the bookmaker’s favourite to replace Avram Grant, who was dismissed after the Hammers were relegated by Sunday’s 3-2 defeat at Wigan.
But he said in a statement: “I do not wish to be considered for the position.”
First-team coach Kevin Keen and ex-Newcastle boss Chris Hughton are now thought to be the leading candidates.
