City of Oxford’s Harry Basterfield stormed to a 100m breaststroke victory in the level two and three open meet at Birmingham.

The 13-year-old clocked 1min 28.66secs in the event, which featured more than 2,800 youngsters.

Basterfield also missed out on a bronze by one hundredth of a second in the 50m breaststroke final.

And this was despite a four-second personal best time of 40.96.

Teammate Issy Rundle, 12, snatched a gold in the 200m breaststroke with pb of 3.23.14.

Rundle added a bronze in the 400m freestyle in 5.38.65.

Emily Wood, 11, finished second in the 50m butterfly with a three-second PB of 38.74.

Her twin brother Christopher took silver in the 400m freestyle with 6.07.47.

Alissa Clarke, ten, grabbed second in the 100m breaststroke, clocking 1.43.01.

Other bronze medallists were Lucy Smith,13, 200m butterfly (2.29.26), Alissa Clarke, ten, 100m freestyle (1.24.61) and Kate Mills,12, 50m backstroke (35.49).

l DIDCOT Barramundi’s Shannon Motha won two medals in the Portsmouth Easter long-course meet.

The 12-year-old collected gold in 100m backstroke and silver in 200m backstroke, gaining her first national qualifying times in the process.

Clubmate Olly Ripley, 12, won bronze in the 200m freestyle.

There was more success for Didcot swimmers in the Basingstoke Easter Open.

Abbey Jones, 11, recorded a silver medal in the 50m breastroke, a feat replicated by Emily Nuttall, ten, in the 50m butterfly.

There were bronze medals for Matthew Millard, 11, in both the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly and for Dominic Ward, ten, in the 50m butterfly.
