North Leigh’s bid to reach the Division 1 South & West play-offs ended as they drew at Bishops Cleeve.
As it transpired, if North Leigh had won, they would have been pipped by Thatcham who beat Andover.
After a scrappy opening half-hour, the hosts went ahead when Kevin Slack ran onto a flick from former Oxford United striker Julian Alsop before lobbing Adam Lonsdale in the North Leigh goal.
After the break, North Leigh turned the game on its head with two goals in as many minutes. Firstly, Josh Dutton-Black fired high into the net from Matty Taylor’s cross before they went ahead when Kieron Sanders’s corner found Taylor, who turned and drilled a low shot under Tom King.
Stuart Hole made it 3-1 from the penalty spot after Michael Hopkins was fouled. And that should have been it.
However, substitute Elliot Kennedy reduced the arrears before Alsop levelled matters.
Leigh pressed forward for a late winner, but to no avail.
North Leigh: Lonsdale, Hole, Caton, Bowles (Clark 68), Huxley, Franklin, Dutton-Black, Burnell, Taylor, Sanders (Reardon 82), Hopkins (Futcher 75). Subs not used: Saunders, Merriman.
Attendance: 122.
