Didcot Town’s Premier League status hangs in the balance after they were held to a goalless draw by Cirencester on Saturday.

The result means that Ady Williams’s men have to beat Oxford City in today’s derby clash at the npower Loop Meadow Stadium to stay up and hope Weymouth fail to win at champions Truro City.

It could have been worse for Didcot, had skipper Jamie Heapy not put in a last-gasp clearance on substitute Carl Brown as he attempted to fire in an injury-time winner.

Didcot dominated possession in the first half, but were let down by a poor final ball, with Matt Bulman in the Cirencester goal not having a save to make.

But after the break, Didcot improved with Elliott Osbourne-Ricketts seeing his effort cannon off the legs of defender Lyndon Tomkins and away to safety.

Jordan Tabor fired a 25-yard free-kick narrowly past the right hand angle of post and bar before Andy Williams, Dave Lawrence and Morgan Williams all failed to test Bulman with some wayward shooting.

Lawrence and Michael Bartley then set up Williams, whose low shote was saved.

Minutes later, Osbourne-Ricketts was denied, before Bartley headed wide.

Then came Heapy’s brilliant challenge which kept Didcot’s survival hopes alive.
