Chris Wilder says he will field his strongest possible side at Barnet today, in respect to the league and in fairness to all the clubs at the foot of the table.

It could be a highly-charged encounter at Underhill after the relegation-threatened Bees moved to within a point of Northampton Town, who occupy third from bottom place with their 4-2 win at Gillingham.

Neither Jack Midson nor Sam Deering, who are on loan from Oxford to Barnet, are allowed to play in today’s game.

For the U’s, Harry Worley returns after suspension, and it could not come at a more opportune time after injuries to Jimmy Sangare, and his replacement in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Chesterfield, Mitch Hanson.

United matched the champions-elect at the Kassam Stadium, their second successive point against a team above them.

Sangare’s season is over after he injured a metatarsal, while Hanson was being assessed after a nasty clash of heads in Saturday’s match.

But Wilder says he now wants United to keep the unbeaten run going for the final three games.

“Harry’s back, which is decent news,” he said.

“I’m disappointed for both Jimmy and Mitch. We had two go down injured on Friday, and two on Saturday!

“I’m gutted for Jimmy because he’s waited patiently and took his chance superbly well at Accrington last week, and at the start of the game today he was outstanding.

“He was not up against a mug centre forward in Craig Davies, even though our supporters gave him a bit of stick.

“He’s had a fantastic season, is a real handful and he dealt with him very well.”

Although the U’s slipped to 13th after Saturday’s draw, Wilder feels the club is progressing well.

“Beano (James Constable) and Paul McLaren signing is part of something moving forward and if I can persuade the chairman to let me strengthen, I’m sure we can move on,” Wilder added.

“We all know that with the support and the facilities, we are a championship club, but it’s a process of moving forward.

“We’re on track for our highest league position for a lot of years.

“We’ve got three big games coming up, I’d love us to finish on a high and stay unbeaten towards the end of the season.

“Hopefully we can go to Barnet and win, and really finish the job off in the last two games.”

Teams often experiment with their squad at the end of the season, but Wilder says United will not be doing that today.

“We’ve got a priority game to address at Barnet, for us and the League, and everyone’s eyes will be on us,” he said.

“People’s careers and livelihoods are at stake, and I’ll be putting out my strongest side.

“And no doubt, with the backing of our great fans, they’ll be looking at us to go and win that one.”
