Aston Rowant trainer Alan Hill reeled off his first four-timer to the delight of favourite backers at the Kimblewick Hunt meeting at Kingston Blount, near Chinnor.

Hill, who took over the point-to-point reins from his wife, Lawney, following her move into the professional ranks six years ago, saddled market leaders Ocean Du Moulin (4-6), Harbourt Court (Evens), Mysaynoway (1-4) and Viel Gluck (11-8) to score.

After Viel Gluck and James Tudor, who posted a treble on Hill’s last three winners, returned following an easy 12-lengths victory in the restricted, the trainer said: “That’s our first four-timer, although we have had three wins and a second a couple of times.”

Ocean du Moulin set the ball rolling in the hands of Hill’s 18-year-old daughter, Gaby, in the confined.

However, it was only in the dying strides that she got the former Jamie Snowden-trained nine-year-old up to beat Prince Of Persia by a head.

Harbour Court made it a double for Hill with a winning debut in the open maiden for four to seven-year-olds.

Tudor took up the running on the five-year-old approaching the last fence, and he eased clear to beat Son Of Karinga by eight lengths.

Victory came as no surprise to Hill, who said: “He worked with Ski Sunday the other day and worked very well.”

Mysaynoway made it a treble for the Aston Rowant handler when repeating her win of 12 months ago in the Southern Grand National mixed open with a facile success from lone rival Presenting Express.

“She’s not that good,” said Hill. “But she stays and won the race last year.”

Small fields were the order of the day with all seven favourites winning.

Philip York, who is based at Cobham in Surrey, notched a training double.

He needed all his strength to get the tricky Dawn Display home in the Thames Valley Club members conditions race for veteran riders, before giving Tom Cheesman the leg up to take the Thames Valley Club members race for novice riders on Nessa.

In another tight finish, Henley-in-Arden owner-trainer-rider Jack Wallace had to survive a stewards’ enquiry before Anshans Rocket was confirmed the winner of the open maiden after beating Mister Pan by half a length.
