Oxford United were behind at half-time at Bury after trailing from the very first minute.
They got off to the worst possible start when Nicky Ajose shot the Shakers into the lead after 60 seconds, following hesitation by Harry Worley.
Worley then had to tread carefully later in the half when he was booked for a foul on Ajose.
