Charlie Longsdon believes Hildisvini has a bright future after the gelding made it two wins from as many starts since joining his Hull Farm stables, near Chipping Norton.
Successful on his debut in this country in a National Hunt Flat Race at Warwick last month, the Irish import followed up by scoring on his first start in a novices’ hurdle over an extended two miles at Sandown on Friday.
Felix de Giles’s mount stayed on well to beat Kid Cassidy – one of the horses affected by the electric shock, which killed Marching Song and Fenix Two, at Newbury – by two and a half lengths.
Describing his five-year-old’s performance as ‘fantastic’, Longsdon said: “He galloped the other horses into submission and was a very impressive winner “I’ve no plans, he's a real long-term project – a soft-ground three-mile chaser in the future.”
Longsdon continued his career-best season when Restezen d’Armor got off the mark at the 16th attempt at Plumpton yesterday.
