Manager Chris Wilder says he is looking for his Oxford United side to get back on track at Lincoln tonight.

And he is unlikely to make many changes to the line-up, because he felt they played well on Saturday, despite their 2-0 home defeat by Hereford.

An away game may present more clear-cut opportunities than United were allowed by a Hereford side happy to defend in numbers, and then counter attack.

“I don’t think any of the players deserve to be left out, they performed well,” Wilder said before training yesterday.

He will check to see if there are any signs of fatigue, with three games in eight days this week, but stressed: “The fitness levels of the players is fantastic.

“It’s important that we get back on track. There’s still a hell of a lot to play for, the players are in good nick, and I think there’s a lot of confidence and belief flying about.”

The U’s boss added: “I don’t think there’s any way Lincoln can play like Hereford did, I don’t think any team can play like that at home.

“Lincoln will be going out to win the game, and I expect, to a certain extent, it will be more open. It might give us a better opportunity of going to win it.”

Tonight’s npower League Two match should have been played on December 11, but was called off because of snow.

Indeed, the pitch at Sincil Bank was so frozen that the Red Imps went 36 days without playing a match, home or away.

However, that enabled their new manager, Steve Tilson, to bring in loan players to bolster his team, and they have made a massive difference.

Lincoln went on a run of five wins in a row, and have won six of their last ten.

Among their loanees are goalkeeper Trevor Carson, from Sunderland, right back Julian Kelly, from Reading, left back Stephen Hunt, from Notts County, and striker Ashley Grimes, from Millwall, who has scored 13 goals in 19 games.

U’s striker Tom Craddock said: “We need now to get a result at Lincoln to keep ourselves in the mix. We don’t want to let the teams ahead get too far ahead of us.”

Tilson said: “Oxford are a good side, pushing for the play-offs. They played three up front on Saturday and have goals in their team, for sure.”
