The first leg of the pike fishing experiment on Farmoor l and ll trout reservoirs last Saturday proved inconclusive, with just one small ‘jack’ caught, writes Andy Webber.
Sixty anglers, including some top names from the pike fishing world, fished from 14 boats and the bank, but the closest anyone came to one of the famed Farmoor monsters was a ‘follow’ from a fish estimated at over 30lb. Several big brown trout were caught and returned.
A Farmoor spokesman said: “Some anglers had some fast runs, but we were not expecting any miracles.”
The second pike session was taking place today.
