Jason Bean emerged victorious with a large net of chub as Kidlington fished their Mac McGregor Cup on the Cherwell at Thrupp, The stretch proved very patchy, with only large fish showing.

I think if I was a member of Kidlington I would be a little worried as the Environment Agency have recently stocked the Cherwell with thousands of small dace, roach, chub, skimmers and barbel, but few of them showed.

I just wonder if the cormorants have been having a bit of a snack on the river.

Yarnton travelled over to Clattercote and the ten anglers had to walk to the far side of the lake with the wind at their backs.

It was a good day for Nick Collier, who not only won the match, but also the golden peg and the Pairs Cup with Mick Willoughby.

He caught bream and tench on the feeder for 14.7.0.

Jason Jones picked up some useful points with a second-placed 8.11.0, also on the feeder, and third with 7.13.0 was Paul Willoughby.

The members of Yarnton would like to record their thanks to George Thomas for all his hard work. He is moving out of the area.
