It has not gone unnoticed by fans that Oxford United are really promoting Yellow Player on their website.

And new online multimedia editor Simon Parker says the service has been greatly expanded, and will become even bigger and better.

“I think everybody at the club sees it as a really good way of staying in touch with the fans, and giving them potentially a different type of content which they are not used to,” says Parker.

“It’s also a really good thing for the club, a really great way of creating revenue.

“A lot of other teams around the Football League are really making a go of it. We want to do that as well.

“We’ve only been doing it for a month, but we’re looking at schemes where we can maybe tie it into a season-ticket package, or maybe offer it at a discounted rate because we think it’s a really useful way of giving people something different.”

To subscribe to the service costs £3.99 a month, or £34.99 for 12 months.

“The great thing for us is that the money goes straight to the football club,” says Parker, a broadcaster and journalist.

It’s a window for fans to see what goes on behind the scenes, and a side of their club that they would not normally get to see.

Parker said: “Yellow Player is essentially the first place, and pretty much the only place, to see pre-match interviews, extended highlights from the Football League, which we have exclusive rights to.

“Even before you see it on the BBC on a Monday evening, you’ll see it on Yellow Player.

“Over the coming months we’re hoping to turn it into almost an OUTV.

“There are clubs around the Football League who are already having incredible content.

“My mission statement, if you like, is that while Oxford United are rocketing up the leagues and doing so well, I want to improve my standards as a creative film-maker to do similar things for the football club.

“It can only be a good thing, as we are becoming a better team on the pitch, we are also becoming a better club in everything we do.”
