Banbury United’s slide down the Premier Division table continued with a 2-1 defeat at Bashley in the Zamaretto Southern League last night.

Mark Gamble gave Bashley the lead on ten minutes, but Robbie Maddox equalised for Banbury on 31.

Chris Knowles struck what proved the winner just before half-time.

Abingdon United conceded two late goals to lose 2-1 at home to Bridgwater Town in Division 1 South & West.

Having led 1-0 at the break, Abingdon’s miserable night was compounded when goalkeeper Jon Beames was sent off for an 85th-minute foul near the corner flag.

John Mills put the hosts ahead with a clinical finish on 28 minutes, while Chris Harper forced a fine save from Bridgwater keeper Stuart Wood.

But Neil Peek headed home a free-kick 12 minutes from time and Luke Carnell turned in Carl Jones’s cross two minutes later for an own goal.

Kidlington reached the Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-finals with a penalty shoot-out victory over Oxford City Nomads.

Keeper Tom McNamara proved Kidlington’s hero, saving James Knight’s sudden death penalty to earn a 5-4 success.

It was 2-2 after 90 minutes and extra-time.

Kynan Isaac put Nomads ahead, Anaclet Odhiambo and Mark Baker hit back, before Knight levelled.
