Try braces from Sean Cooke and Joe McAneaney helped Alchester beat Bicester 36-12 in their BB&O Premier Division and Oxfordshire Shield quarter-final double-header.

Bicester No 8 Dan Spencer stretched over from a tapped penalty, scrum half Steve Risbridger converting.

Alchester hit back with a Tom Miles penalty then Cooke was driven over. McAneaney barged through for his first, Miles converting both for 17-7.

Cooke muscled a second try and Miles again converted, but Bicester prop Alex Benjamin replied before the break.

It was 24-12 until the final five minutes when wing Andy Blacklock and full back Simon Read went over, Miles converting the latter.

Gosford All Blacks were hit by a last-minute try in a 19-19 draw with Stow-on the-Wold.

Tim Ellis put Gosford ahead with a penalty, then No 8 Dan Hughes crossed in the corner.

Stow trailed 8-7 at the break after a try from Ed Fanshawe, Adams converting.

Ellis’s penalty and Hughes’s second try made it 16-7 before Stow’s Tom Davies went over.

Chris Bennett’s penalty should have been enough for Gosford, but Chris Wright scored and Adams converted.
