Southend midfielder Anthony Grant has hit back at Oxford United manager Chris Wilder.

The U’s boss labelled Grant a diver for his part in Damian Batt’s red card at Roots Hall on Tuesday night.

But Grant felt Wilder’s comments were unfair.

“The player caught me high above my ankle and their manager is just an idiot for saying what he did,” Grant told the Southend Echo.

“I don’t know if it should have been a red card because I haven’t seen it again and it all happened so quickly.

“But he definitely made contact with me so how is it a dive?

“I will even send a picture of the tackle to Oxford’s manager if he wants so he can have a look at it on their sofa and realise it was a foul.”

An eight-strong contingent of Oxford United fans are 'Fans of the week’ on Sky Sports’ Soccer Am show today (10am).
