George Reid’s second-half strike gave Vale of White Horse Schools Under 15s a 1-0 win at Gosport & Fareham in the Wright Cup first-round.

Vale now face North Dorset at Milton United in round two on Tuesday, February 15.

l MID Oxon’s ESFA Under 15 Trophy fifth-round tie against Brierley Hill & Dudley, which was postponed on Saturday due to a frozen pitch, has been rearranged for this Friday at Long Lane Park, Essington (7.30pm).

The prize for the winners is a home quarter-final tie against Oldham, who won 3-2 at Stockport.

l VALE of White Horse A triumphed in the Oxfordshire final of the ESFA Under 11 Inter-Association seven-a-side championship at St Edmund’s School, Abingdon.

They beat Oxford City A 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Oxford City B to top the group and now go forward to the south west regional finals in Bristol on Saturday, March 12.

In the other games, Oxford A beat Vale B 1-0, and Vale B defeated Oxford B 1-0.

l EYNSHAM Primary School took the honours in the Oxfordshire final of the ESFA Under 11 Girls’ seven-a-side championship.

Representing Mid Oxon, they topped the group with a 5-0 win over Our Lady's (Oxford), a 1-0 victory over All Saints (Vale of White Horse West), plus a goalless draw with Woodcote (Vale East).

l SARAH Harrison’s double helped Lord Williams’s (Thame) to a 4-1 win over Cherwell (Oxford) in the Oxfordshire Under 13 Girls Cup final at Rover Cowley.

Laura Powell and Elle Kaplicz were also on target for the victors.

l CHERWELL (Oxford) turned on the style to run out 5-1 winners over Blessed George Napier (Banbury) in the Oxfordshire Under 16 Cup final at Oxford City.

Abdi Farah, a Ryan Barney penalty, Donald Ziu, Akhy Cheridy and Elias Williams made up Cherwell’s tally.
