John Paul, the reigning British junior sprint champion from Wantage, captured three gold medals at a junior international meeting in Holland.
The 17-year-old, who attends King Alfred’s College and represented Scotland in the Commonweath Games, was competing for Britain against eight countries in Apeldoorn.
On the first day, Paul helped Britain to gold in the team sprint and also came first in the Keirin race.
A day later, Paul, the fastest qualifier, won gold in the individual sprint event.
This was a great start to a busy year for Paul, who is on Britain’s Olympic development programme for track sprint.
His next competition is in March when he will be representing Britain at a Development World Cup at Newport Velodrome in Wales.
His aims this year are the junior world championships in Delhi, and the junior European Championships in Portugal.
He is also targeting the British national junior and senior championships.
