Oxford City 0

Chesham Utd 2 (Archer 12, Fotheringham 21)

Struggling Oxford City were unable to build on the previous week’s success against Swindon Supermarine, as they lost at home to fifth-placed Chesham on Saturday.

The result leaves Mike Ford’s team still in the Premier Division relegation zone.

City found it hard to get forward and put any pressure on the visitors’ defence.

It was Chesham, who set the pace.

After Steve Wales had gone close following a dangerous attack on the right, the visitors took the lead after 12 minutes.

Leon Archer put the finishing touch to another threatening Steve Wales pass.

Nine minutes later it was 2-0.

This time Archer was the provider as he found Dave Fotheringham, who fired home past City keeper Jakub Jesionkowski.

Chesham continued to hold sway as City failed to test Shane Gore in the visitors goal.

City gave a much imp-roved performance after the break.

But the visitors defended in depth and City were left frustrated.
