Lord Attica could bid to repeat last year’s win in the men’s open for the Lord Ashton of Hyde’s Cup at the Heythrop Hunt meeting at Dunthrop, near Chipping Norton, on Sunday.

The 12-year-old, trained by Bradley Clarke at Adstone, near Towcester, grabbed the glory in what is one of the sport’s four ‘classic races’ with a gutsy six-lengths win over We’re Confused when it was run in late March following two postponements.

However, Lord Attica, who also finished runner-up to Bowdens Lane in the four-mile marathon in 2009, could face stronger opposition this time, and would need to improve on his pulled up reappearance at Cottenham.

Up There and Horsham Lad, first and second at Chaddesley Corbet three weeks ago, may renew rivalry.

And Burntoakboy, winner of the Coral Cup at the 2007 Cheltenham Festival, and former smart chaser Naunton Brook, who is set to be ridden by Will Twiston-Davies, are also entered.

Blue Business could bid for a third win in the ladies’ open for Worcestershire-based owner-trainer-rider Angela Rucker.

Winner of the three miles and five-furlong contest in 2008, the 13-year-old repeated the feat last March when galloping home eight lengths clear of Derawar.

Jeans Joy, who was impressive when winning an intermediate at Buckfastleigh last season and will be partnered by champion lady rider Polly Gundry, is an another interesting entry.

Viel Gluck, who would be a rare runner here for Aston Rowant trainer Alan Hill, is worth noting if turning up for the restricted.

The first of a scheduled seven races is 12 noon.
