Oxford United must surely be the best-supported club in League Two away from home.

While Bradford boast the best home gates, partly bec-ause of the cheap season ticket offer deal they launched before the start of the season, Oxford seem to take more fans away with them than any other club in the division.

They sold out of their increased allocation for Sixfields tomorrow and will have over 1,600 cheering them on.

They also took 3,975 to West Ham, 2,293 to Wycombe, 1,771 to Burton, 1,576 to Cheltenham, and 857 to Aldershot.

While Bradford brought 575 fans to the Kassam Stadium last Saturday, Oxford took 751 to Valley Parade in October.

Thanks to the support Oxford are taking, Northampton are expecting the biggest crowd of the season tomorrow.

The attendance will beat the 5,720 who saw the Cobblers beat Southend in September.

l THE U’s are hoping for a first victory at Sixfields since Paul Tait’s goal brought them a 1-0 Division 2 win in March 2001.

Northampton have won the last three contests between the clubs at Sixfields, each time by the only goal.

It was 1-0 in both October 2005 and October 2004, while the previous season, in April 2004, the Cobblers won 2-1.

l NORTHAMPTON will be holding a minute’s silence before kick-off tomorrow.

It is as a mark of respect for the Macclesfield Town player Richard Butcher, who started his career at Northampton. The 29-year-old died last week.

l ALFIE Potter will continue to sit out tomorow’s game, because of a shoulder injury.

Manager Chris Wilder said: “Alfie had an injection last week to settle the shoulder down because he’s had a bit of discomfort in it.

“It’s a difficult one for him because we thought he might be involved against Thame.

“He trained and obviously players come together in training, and he felt something – not long-term, but just a bit of soreness. So we’ll leave him.

“He’ll be training on Thursday and Friday, but we won’t take any risks. Fingers-crossed he’ll be available for another big game against Shrewsbury on Tuesday.”
