Oxfordshire RFU will investigate the fracas during Alchester’s 41-21 BB&O Premier Division victory over Gosford All Blacks on Saturday.
Players from both sides were involved in a second-half scuffle, which ended with Alchester’s Garrick Kimber and Gosford’s Tim Sutton being sent off for fighting.
Referee’s assessor Keith Latham said: “An incident occurred which was managed by the referee, after which he sent two players off.
“I have referred matters to the county.”
Latham stressed the match continued without further incident.
- WITNEY hooker Sam Collins has had a metal plate and six pins inserted in his broken right ankle.
Collins, who was injured in Saturday’s 20-10 home defeat to Reading Abbey, was released from Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital on Monday.
The 21-year-old now faces six weeks in plaster and five months before he can run again.
Collins knew the injury was bad straight away.
He said: “My foot was bent round and it was touching my calf and I heard a crack.
“I lifted my leg up and my foot was just hanging.”
Collins hopes to be back supporting the team soon.
