Witney target rifle shooter Jason Buckingham (pictured above) must be one of Oxfordshire’s hottest shots.

Buckingham beat off stiff competition from other local shooters to land the Oxfordshire Rifle Association’s ‘Otmoor Tankard’ for 2010.

The award is presented to the competitor who records the highest aggregate score with a service rifle at two meetings, with targets shot at 400, 500 and 600 yards.

In addition, Buckingham was also awarded the ORA’s ‘Volunteer Bowl’ for the second year in a row.

This was for winning the muzzle-loading rifle class.

And Buckingham only just missed out on even greater success when he competed in the national Rigby Cup.

The event, shot at a distance of 600 yards, saw him take third place competing against some of Europe’s best long-range muzzle-loading target rifle shooters.
