Former Berinsfield fighter Jordan Flynn is aiming to build on his European Championship success as he looks to reach the ABA national schoolboy finals for the third year in succession.

Flynn, 14, who now does his boxing at Repton ABC in Bethnal Green, won silver in the in the 50kg class at the finals in Denmark.

He competes for the south London club in the Royal Navy Schoolboys Championship in Romford, Essex, tomorrow.

The England Schools’ international switched clubs because he felt Repton offered him the best opportunity to advance his boxing career.

Flynn has to balance his studies – he attends St Gregory’s School in Oxford – with travelling down to London to train three times a week for up to three hours each time.

The Romford event is followed by the Schoolboy Home Counties Championships where he will represent South London.

His mother, Judith Flynn, said the school and his local college, which gives him time off to get to training sessions, were very supportive.
