OXFORDSHIRE stormed to a 5-1 win over West Midlands in the ESFA Under 14 Inter County Trophy quarter-final at Milton United.

Giorgio Rasulo gave Oxon an eighth-minute lead, which Josh Smile doubled ten minutes later.

Luke Delaney pulled one back with a breakaway goal in the second half.

But Oxfordshire restored their two-goal advantage immediately when Rasulo’s driven cross deflected into the net off a defender for an own goal. Scott Gee added the fourth from close range, and Luca Headford completed the scoring with a powerful header three minutes from time.

Oxon now face the winners of Lincolnshire and Merseyside in the semi-finals.

  • VALE of White Horse produced an inept defensive display to bow out of the ESFA Under 15 Trophy with a 5-2 defeat by Dacorum in the fifth round at Milton United.

Kai Lewis and Danny Warwick struck in the first five minutes to stun Vale, who pulled a goal back when Conor Ingram headed home Oliver Thomas’s cross.

But Dacorum restored their two-goal cushion before the break when a free-kick hit the hand of a defender, and Callum O’Connor scored from the penalty spot.

Vale dominated the second half, and James Clarke drove the ball into the top corner to give them hope.

But Vale’s defence gifted Dacorum two more goals as O’Connor completed his hat-trick to seal victory.

Mid Oxon, who face Wolverhampton in a delayed fourth-round tie at the Goodrich Sports Ground on Saturday (10.30), warmed up with a disappointing 2-0 defeat by Newbury in the Wright Cup quarter-final at Marlborough School, Woodstock.

Two cracking finishes in the first half condemned Mid Oxon to defeat.

Ryan Heap, Sam Humphreys and Connor Robbins all went close for Mid Oxon, but they couldn’t find a way through.
